Summer / Spring / AutumnAustria is an extremely popular summer holiday destination. For those looking for a good alternative to a beach or pool holiday, but still like a relaxing, peaceful break, it's ideal. In Dienten and the surrounding area there is lots to see and do. Here is just a selection of some of the events, attractions and activites. Salzburg Music Festival; Sound of Music Salzburg Bus Tour; Famous Berchtesgarten (Adolf Hitler's retreat); Burg Hohenwerfen (Castle where “Where Eagles Dare” was filmed); guided rambling tours*; golf, white-water rafting; mountainbiking; tennis; Harvest Festival celebrations; water sports...the list goes on.
*Even in September it is amazing how busy the hotels and restaurants are in the village. There is a great atmosphere and lots going on. We recommend you visit the Salzburgerland Tourist Office and the Dienten Tourist Office for the very latest information. |
Walks.....................There are lots of organised walks during the summer season or you can hop on a chairlift and explore by yourselves. The staff at the local Tourist Office are very helpful. "Grüß Gott" is what you will hear whenever you meet your fellow (very friendly) walkers. Literally "Greetings to God" and you have to return the greeting! The many traditional Austrian huts (Hütte) dotted around the mountains offer welcome refreshment stops with breathtaking views and if you are feeling somewhat peckish you must sample the Apfelstrüdel.
A trip to the lake at Zell am See (photo above) is a must, whether you want to sail, go on a pedalo or just wander around the lake. |
