WinterNestled in a small valley, the village of Dienten is served by several ski lifts. One side of the mountain the lift takes you up towards Hinterthal and Maria Alm, the other side up to Mühlbach.
Ski region Dienten itself forms part of the Hochkönig ski region. The area provides ski enthusiasts with first class, snow-sure ski slopes, ranging in elevation from 860m to 1900m. In winter, the area is serviced by snow-making equipment, guaranteeing high quality snow that you can always rely on. There are 33 ski lifts in total, offering an impressive 150 km of ski slope! But that is not all.The Hochkönig ski region is part of the Ski amadé area. Ski amadé is spread over five regions, comprising Schladming/Dachstein Tauern, Salzburger Sportwelt, Hochkönig, Gastein and Großarltal with a total of 860km of runs and 270 lifts.
Ski passes Ski passes issued for more than one day allow you to ski or snowboard throughout the entire Ski amadé region. Less experienced skiers can also purchase day cards. If that were not enough, there is also the Salzburg Super Ski Pass. This card is valid in 23 ski regions and provides access to a staggering 2,200km of runs! Tobogganing The region of Hochkönig is a haven for toboggan fans. Dienten am Hochkönig boasts an 1.5 km-long toboggan run, which starts at an elevation of 1,190m and finishes at 1,000m. We recommend you visit the Salzburgerland Tourist Office and the Dienten Tourist Office for the very latest information. |
Upgrading facilities
In recent years a great deal of money has been spent improving the lift system in the Hochkönig region, with new 6-man chairs (some heated!) and links connecting the 3 resorts of Dienten, Maria Alm and Mühlbach. The chair lift in Dienten (Bürglalmbahn), next to the Skicentre (comprising skihire, shop, ticket office and bar) and Tourist Office has made a huge difference to the village and whole Hochkönig resort. The 10-man gondola was installed for the 2019/2020 season starting at Dienten Skicentre up to the Steinbockalm, Hinterthal. Dienten Webcam Link. Other Hochkönig Webcams.
Quiet slopes for all levelsOur experience over the past few seasons has always been extremely positive. Friendly people wherever you are on the slopes or in the many traditional Austrian Stuben (small restaurants). Minimal queuing for lifts, quiet and well-pisted slopes, reasonbly priced refreshments and meals.
